Personal Information:

I am a mother of four children and four step children.  My children are 28, 26, 25 and 17, all of whom are my life.  I spend all my spare time with my children and grandchildren (just had my eleventh) who I see everyday.  I am totally besotted with my babies and have them on a regular basis.  I am a mum and nanny foremost.  I think this was who I was meant to be!  I am a calm person who is able to cope with any situation that arises and I am always there if I am needed.  I offer my complete support and understanding and can be there if you need a sounding board or someone to talk to throughout your pregnancy and after your baby is born.

Philosophy & Service:

I became a doula as my children are all grown up and three of them have left home to start families of their own.  I became aware that I could use my experience, skills, love and understanding as a mum and grandmother to help other women and their partners achieve the type of birth that is right for them, helping them with their choices and offering help and support during the pregnancy and labour.  I can also provide books on pregnancy and birth which may help answer questions or help in deciding on birth options.

As a Recognised birth doula I provide 2 antenatal visits to discussing a birth plan, birth and labour positions and I will always support you in your decisions.  I also include one postnatal visit to support transition into parent hood and to help you with your feeding choice.  I am also available on the phone 24/7 or email to help with any worries that might crop up.  Extra antenatal visits can be arranged.

As a Recognised postnatal doula, I offer postnatal care, usually 3hrs, 2 or 3 times a week, for between 4 to 8 weeks after the birth.  I am there to help make the transition into parenthood easier by helping with small jobs around the house, looking after the baby or/and siblings so mum can get sleep.  I am also there to offer support 24/7 on the phone to help with any worries that occur.

My fees as a birth doula are £750 (this can be paid in instalments).
My fees as a postnatal doula are £15 per hour (minimum 3hrs per visit).
Mileage is charge extra at 40p per mile

I am happy to travel throughout Herts, Beds, Bucks and throughout London.

Related Skills & Services:

I did my practical training as a doula with Nurturing Birth in London.  I have attended other Nurturing Birth courses on birth and breastfeeding, an Advanced birth course, an Advanced breastfeeding course and Doula UK study days.  I am very interested in using homeopathic and aromatherapy remedies with massage to help women have a relaxing and calm labour and birth.  I also have experience of working in the hospital environment as a nursing auxiliary for over three years in maternity, paediatric, and geriatric wards.

Experience & Specialities:

I have been at all of my grandchildren’s births and attended 35 births as a doula.  I have been at the Luton & Dunstable, Watford, Milton Keynes, Homerton, Queen Charlottes, Edgware birth centre, High Wycombe, Lister, Wexham park and Northwick Park hospital.  I have attended all types of birth from completely natural births, water birth, vbac births and home births.  I have also supported couples who have attended HypnoBirthing courses.
